Video Marketing Audiences
When it comes to video marketing it’s all about your audience. Video marketing audiences vary and there is no one-size fits all approach. You need to know who you want to talk to, where they go online and what kind of things they like.
Who’s it all for?
When we make a video, before we do anything else, we think about the audience. If you’re trying to market something then you need to think about whether there is a need for that thing. If there’s a need, then who needs it? If you know who needs it, then go and tell them about it. So far, so obvious. What trips people up is when they start making decisions for their audience about why they want or need something. That doesn’t work. It’s not about you, it’s about them. People will buy for their own reasons so go and ask them and then show them how your product or service will actually help them.
First steps to getting it right
So, what do you need to do?
1. Make an avatar. Not a new idea, but it really does pay dividends to think about who you customers are and what they need. Then think about how to find them – which websites or social media platforms do they like?
2. Know your platforms. Think about which platforms your audience uses. Do they like Facebook, LinkedIn or Snapchat? Where does your audience go when it goes online?
3. Measure. If you make a video, then measure its success. You can find out more about how to measure video performance in this blog. If it works well, do more. If it flops, then think about a new approach.
